Ecotour, cultural tour and nature tour operators may be accredited under NEAP (The National Ecotourism Accreditation Program), or follow the general Code of Practice for Ecotourism Operators, and be licensed with local authorities and National Parks and Wildlife Services.
Guides should have substantial local knowledge, with perhaps even a small library of relevant books and local information available, or engage tour guides versed in and respectful of local cultures and environments. (i.e. geologists, biologists, ornitholigists, scientists, indigineous elders, local historians etc.)
